FYP Executive Summary

Title: DEVELOP OF A COMPUTERIZED INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (IMS) SOFTWARE FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION

name: OOI CHOON KHENG
matrix id no: FB11064
supervisor: DR. NIZAM UDDIN AHAMED

2.  Problem statement
Inventory management has been practiced by many companies to increase efficiency of item flow. Nowadays, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) still practice inventory management using traditional method such as spreadsheet and order list although they are in the era of technology. Inventory management system can be computerized to further increase the efficiency of item flow and easier to manage.

3. Objectives (minimum 3)
                   I.            To identify the most suitable software develop tool to develop the Inventory Management System (IMS).
II.            To develop Graphical User Interface (GUI) software for Inventory Management System (IMS) using software develop tool.
III.            To develop database to contain the data of the Inventory Management System (IMS).
IV.            To develop a barcode generator and scanning software.

4. Scope of research
                   I.            Software develop tool to be researched on: Visual Studio, Dev C++, Code Blocks, and JAVA Eclipse.
II.            Develop an Inventory Management System (IMS) software with a database, barcode generator and scanning function and Graphical User Interface (GUI) using software develop tools.

5. Expected outcome

The Inventory Management System (IMS) software is ready for industry application.

A long meaningful day

Thursday, 18th SEP 2014 [Cloudy]

"Phew~ finally the meeting is over!!!" A thought that I can't help having it. It has been almost 2 weeks since I have started my final year semester I. I had imagined my final year would be packed with my Final Year Project(FYP), however reality is different from my imagination. I have my hand full with assignments from different subjects and also my final year project. Although it has been busy for me, I'm glad that I managed to keep it up. Hopefully, I will manage to keep up with all the things that will be coming at me till the end of my final year semester II.

Now back to what I was thinking about... the second meeting I had with my FYP supervisor, Dr. Nizam. Dr. Nizam is a good lecturer who loves to share his knowledge. Although I have a different title of developing an Inventory Management System(IMS) software, he welcome me to join his discussion on biomechanical with the other 4 course mate of mine having title related to Electromyograhpy(EMG). In the duration of 1 hours, he has been pouring out knowledge for us to absorb. He taught us about the device used for EMG and how to use it, where could we find more reference on EMG, answer our question regarding EMG and finally discussion on my progress on the IMS research. It was overwhelming with new knowledge, yet I gladly to be in the meeting as I have the chance to gain more knowledge on the field of biomechanical. As I slowly walk to the bus stop after the meeting, the fatigue from staying awake and continuous brain usage of a total 11 hours caught up with me. How I wish I stayed in KK5 and not KK512, but what done is done. I have to resist from falling asleep while walking and then take the bus back to KK512. After almost an hour, I have returned to KK512 and after finishing up my part for the group assignment and writing this post, finally I can rest myself.

It has been a long day but a meaningful one too. Good night.
